Executive Director - Kim Sgro

Kim SgroKim Sgro has been a Marine Biologist and Conservation Educator for over 20 years. She comes to NWESC with experience as the former Executive Director of Pasado’s Safe Haven – a multi-million dollar animal rescue organization based in Washington.

She is a disaster first responder and has been deployed for two months of animal rescue to New Orleans in 2005 post-Hurricane Katrina. There she managed a facility which processed over 1,200 rescued animals and trained over 400 volunteers.

Kim is also the co-founder for KCACC Exposed, a public awareness and legislative reform campaign for King County and Washington State-based animal sheltering and cruelty investigation processes.

Former Project Manager for Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) USA, Kim developed an ocean plastic clean-up and awareness campaign; provided guidance and strategic planning for a global ocean ghost net removal campaign, initiated the strategic plan for Operation Milagro (a protection effort for the near-extinct Vaquita dolphin in the Gulf of California), and facilitated and directed the SSCS USA education program planning.
